If
you are looking for a way to be more involved in the fair or get your feet wet,
volunteering at the Broome County Fair is a perfect way! We have several ways youth and adults can get involved!
Youth Building:
Volunteers can sign up for
a shift to cover the youth building. Responsibilities would include keeping an
eye on exhibits (making sure they don’t get handled), answering questions from
the public, interacting with the public sharing your 4-H experience, keeping
the youth building clean/tidy. Replenishing exploratory zone as needed
(supplies will be provided). Must be 19 years or older unless accompanied by an adult. Youth cannot be left alone in the building. Pass to enter the fair for your shift will be
provided.
Exhibit Evaluators:
We are in need of evaluators to assess and provide constructive feedback on projects youth have been working on all year long. Each evaluator will be given a rubric to fill out and award each project. Your expertise and insights will play a crucial role in recognizing the efforts of our youth.
Animal Shows:
We are always looking reliable adults to help with animal shows. For our horse show (on Thursday and Friday mornings) we need positions filled for announcing, gate, show ring steward, time keeper (Friday only), equipment check. If you are interested in volunteering at one of the livestock shows or for one of the positions above please reach out to Linnea.
Milk Can Donation:
Tuesday is free day at the Broome County Fair. 4-Hers and parents can volunteer to help fundraise for Broome County 4-H by manning the milk can donation area at the entrance of the fair on Tuesday, July 23rd. If you are interested in this volunteering opportunity please contact the 4-H Office!
If you are interested in being an exhibit evaluator, volunteering during an animal show or helping with the milk can donation, please reach out to Linnea (lmm333@cornell.edu).
