Awards & Recognition

Every year 4-H members, volunteers, and staff come together to celebrate the growth of our youth over the past year. The Annual Awards Event recognizes youth for their participation, individual growth, achievement, cooperation, and leadership. The purpose of recognition is to encourage and support the efforts of young people in learning to improve their knowledge and develop their life skills, while promoting self-confidence. We are planning on hosting this event last weekend of September/beginning of October. More details to come as we finalize our plans.

Member Report Forms are a record of a member's unique 4-H experience over the past year. They are required to receive certificates for years in 4-H/project completion and serve as an application for the awarded trips and flex spending awards listed below. The awards available vary by year and the age of the 4-H member. In order for youth to be eligible for awarded trips they must complete a public presentation during the 4-H year. All youth are encouraged to complete a Member Report Form to document their experience, including Cloverbuds, who are not eligible for the awards. (See green box to right)

Awarded Trips & Flex Spending Awards

What Trips are offered?

Vermont Career Exploration, Agri-Business Career (ABC) Conference, Capital Days, STARR–State Teen Ambassador Representative Retreat, 4-H Career Exploration Trip, & $50 Flexible Spending. Trip offerings can vary from year to year. See the Member Report Form for the official offerings.

What is a Flex Spending Award?

$50 to be used toward an educational event or materials to support a project (with staff approval). Youth must submit documentation of their purchase to the 4-H office for reimbursement for up to $50. Awards must be used within one year and should be submitted before the next awards dinner.

Who is eligible?

Youth must be at least 8 years old. However, trips and awards are age specific. In order for youth to be eligible for awarded trips they must complete a public presentation during the 4-H year. Refer to the Member Report Form for full details.

What is a Member Report Form and when are they due?

Member Report Forms are a record of a member's unique 4-H experience over the past year. They are required to receive project completion certificates and serve as an application for all trips and awards. ALL youth are encouraged to submit a Member Report Form to document their experience, including Cloverbuds who are not eligible for the awards, by August 31st. (See green box to right) Submission also insures youth receive their years in 4-H pin, regardless of their attendance at the dinner.

How are award recipients selected?

Youth 13 & up participate in an interview process to determine trip/flex-spending recipients. The remaining youth who submitted a Member Report Form are then selected at random to receive flex spending awards, based on available funds.
