Pruning Ornamental Trees and Shrubs

Saturday, March 19th

Cornell Cooperative Extension Ag. Development Center

Work with Master Gardeners and CCE staff in CBG learning proper techniques pruning trees and shrubs. Learn how, why and when to prune, proper tools, tool maintenance, etc. We will be going out to the gardens for the second hour so please dress for the weather.(In the event of rain/snow cancellation, class will not be rescheduled.)Class size is limited so pre-registration is required. Nut Trees for the Northeast

Tuesday, March 22nd

This presentation will cover the pros and cons of different nut trees suitable for the Northeastern U.S. We will look at the varieties, propagation, cultivation, harvesting, uses, and marketing of different tree crops. The focus will be on chestnuts and hazelnuts. Akiva Silver of Twisted Tree Farm in Spencer, NY maintains commercial nut orchards, runs a tree nursery, is an author and a founding member of the New York Tree Crops Alliance.
