Planting the Future Forest

Forest Management

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County works with the Southern Tier Chapter of the New York Forest Owners Association to offer workshops, tours, site visits and other educational programs for private forest owners interested in timber production, wildlife management, and related topics.

Master Forest Owner (MFO) Landowner Visits

Master Forest Owner (MFO) volunteers are graduates of a 4-day training program where they learn about timber and wildlife management, forest economics, and ecology. MFO volunteers conduct free site visits for landowners with woodlots.  To arrange a visit from a MFO volunteer click here.

Southern Tier NYFOA

The New York State Forest Owners Association (NYFOA) is an organization who's goal is to provide aid in well informed maintenance and management of privately owned forests in New York state. Beyond the land itself, NYFOA also aims to represent and protect the interests of land owners themselves.
