Wild about nature? Want to learn more about wildlife? Join us as get started learning about our local animals as part of the Wildlife Habitat Education Program. WHEP is a national hands-on environmental education program that is dedicated to teaching wildlife and fisheries habitat conservation and management. Our nature educator, Carolyn Klein, will introduce Broome County 4-H’ers to some of the animals found in the Northeast Mixed Forest Region and ways to identify them using pelts, tracks, or even vocalizations.

The NYS W.H.E.P. contest will be held at the state fair. There is no need to compete in WHEP-- 4-H'ers are welcome to join us simply to enjoy nature programming. We are just using the event as a focus point for what material to cover. Bonus: If 4-H'ers would like to compete in WHEP, this program will help them prepare.
