Volunteer Opportunity: 4-H County Level Public Presentations

Public Presentations is one of 4-H's most valued programs. It is often cited by 4-H alumni as their most significant and valuable 4-H learning experience, more so than any other 4-H program. The purpose of this fun, yet competitive, event is to help youth learn to speak confidently in front of others. 4-H'ers prepare and deliver a presentation, and along the way, learn research skills, how to organize and write a talk, and ways to create and use visual aids. Volunteer evaluators watch 4-H youth participants give their presentations and provide them with constructive feedback to help them improve their public speaking skills.

Youth develop presentations on topics that are most relevant and exciting to them. There are a variety of presentation types to choose from, and the topic can be about almost anything. For more information about presentation types, please visit: Cornell Cooperative Extension | Presentation Types, and as always, we are here to help! If you have any questions about this event, please ask.

**Youth that do exceptionally well on their presentations will qualify to present again at the district level event, using the evaluator's feedback to make adjustments to their presentations.

**Giving a 4-H Public Presentation is one of the prerequisites for applying for one of Broome County 4-H's year end awards.

Who: All Broome County 4-H Members

When: Saturday, February 28,2026

Time: 9am- 2pm (Each presenter will be given an individual presentation time. Chose a time frame that works best for your family, and we will do our best to accommodate you.)

Where: CCE Auditorium
