Summer 2026 Broome County Agricultural Municipal Training

Join Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County and Broome County Department of Planning and Economic Development for their annual summer agricultural municipal training, taking place on Tuesday August 4th from 5-7:30pm at the TASTE NY building, located at 840 Front St, Binghamton.

This training will feature Jeffrey Kehoe, Associate Environmental Analysist with the Ag Protection Unit at NYS Department of Agriculture & Markets and Amelia LoDolce, Executive Director, VINES.

Topics will include:

  • Evolution of urban agriculture in Broome County & current examples
  • Challenges and opportunities of farming in smaller spaces and in peri-urban areas
  • Using the Farm Friendly Scorecard as an opportunity to strengthen local zoning laws and land use regulations.

Up to 2 credits are available for Planning Board & Zoning Board of Appeals members. A light meal will be provided to attendees. Pre-registration required to ensure an adequate meal count and copies of handouts. Certificates will be provided at the conclusion of the training. There is no virtual option. There is no cost to attend.
