Session One: Waste Less
Brainstorm ways to reduce waste in our homes, including waste from food packaging. Discover the hidden waste behind frequently purchased items.
Understand and identify favorite recipes that repurpose food scraps and leftover foods, and develop your own goals for ways to reduce food waste at home.

Session Two: Food Safety, Storage, and Preservation
In this class you’ll learn strategies for storing food to extend its freshness, ways to identify when a food is safe or unsafe to eat, and some common techniques for preserving food at home.
Recipe: Mixed Berry Chia Jam
Session Three: Is it Trash?
An in-depth look at the kitchen items that get sent to the landfill and whether they belong there. Learn what food scraps are compostable, ways to reduce waste from food packaging and understand what food codes and “expired” foods. Then, get recipes for making foods at home that are usually “store-bought”, reducing packaging and improving the nutritional value of those food items.
