4-H Livestock Program: Alpaca Herd Health

Club Age Range: Members 8+
Join us at Mallory’s Meadows for a quick farm tour and a hands-on herd health lesson using alpacas as our example species. Youth will learn practical livestock care skills including body condition scoring, the 5-point health check, checking eyelids for signs of anemia, recognizing early signs of illness, and comparing digestion across species. Participants will also observe a demonstration of how vaccinations are safely given under the skin.
This class counts as one approved educational program toward the Livestock Auction requirement.
