Encouraging our youth to develop public speaking skills is a 4-H priority, and because of this, 4-H communities across the nation will each hold their own Public Presentations event. Broome County 4-H's public speaking competition will be held on February 22nd this year and we encourage all of our members to participate.
Interested in trying something new this year for Public Presentations? While the Illustrated Talk is the most common genre of presentation given by our 4-H'ers there are a variety of other options to consider. Other types of presentations are Formal Speech, Demonstration, Dramatic Interpretations, Recitation, and a Job Interview.
We are very excited to have Dustin Hirthler from the Endicott Performing Arts Center coming to give our 4-H members some tips on Dramatic Interpretations. In Dramatic Interpretations, the presenter (or team of two) acts out a scripted monologue (or dialogue for a team). Come prepared with a script you’re interested in presenting!
