Fall Foraging Walk

  • Thursday, October 3, 2024, 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Join CCE Broome for a fall-time guided walk focused on wild edibles and medicinal plants/herbs! Participants will learn how to identify common choice mushrooms and plants in our area ranging from edibles to those with traditional holistic medicinal uses; as well as toxic species which should be avoided. Participants will also learn about preferred habitats of these species and when/where to look for them.

When: Thursday, October 3rd 5:30pm-6:30pm

Where: Jones Park (Vestal, NY)

This program is open to all ages and knowledge-sets. However, some of the material may include specific jargon and terms related to foraging more broadly, or jargon and terms related to individuals or groups of species of interest.

We would like to remind participants that this program is strictly educational. Content will cover how to forage sustainably and what to look for, but no mushrooms or plants will be removed from the park during this program.

This program is limited to 20 participants maximum and registration is required. If the maximum number of participants is reached you will be added to a waitlist. If you are registered and find out you cannot attend, please notify Cam ASAP so spots can be filled from the waitlist.

We are happy to offer this program free of charge to community members of all ages. Any youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
