Why is nature so colorful? Join CCE-Broome County for a guided nature walk focused on the colors that we see in nature. We will begin with a brief discussion of different types of coloration in both living and non-living parts of nature: camouflage, warning coloration, pollinator attraction, mating displays, light absorption, and more! We will then hand out a variety of color samples and take a walk along the trails, finding pieces of nature that match everyone’s colors.
This program is free of charge and open to participants of all ages. Any participant under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by an adult. Concepts will be simple enough for young children, but some technical language and more complex topics will be introduced to engage older participants as well.
Two walks will be held this fall:
Color Walk 1. Saturday, September 28th at Nathaniel Cole Park, 10 am – 12 pm
Color Walk 2: Saturday, October 19th at Jones Park, 10 am – 12 pm
Free of Charge
