Join Nature Educator Cam for some summer foraging fun! We will be at Jones Park in Vestal, NY on Friday, July 26th and Greenwood Park in Lisle, NY on Friday, August 2nd! Three different time options will be offered on each date: 12:00pm-2:00pm, 2:30pm-4:30pm, & 5:00pm-7:00pm.

Participants are encouraged to bring a foraging basket/bag as well as a field guide for personal use. Field guide recommendations can be found below.

During these workshops participants will learn about the various types of fungi that grow in our forests, become familiar with common traits and structures used to identify fungi species, learn how to key-out fungi species, and gain knowledge on sustainable foraging practices and protocol. Participants will then search for fungi independently (or in small groups) and we will come back together to discuss our findings. With any luck, we may even come across some choice edibles! As a reminder, these workshops will teach participants how to identify fungi and their preferred habitats, but no fungi (or plants) will be removed from the parks.

Remember to NEVER eat any fungi, plant, or animal species found outdoors unless you are 100% confident in its ID or are with someone who is.

Registration is required. These workshops are for adults (18+) only, apologies for any inconvenience.

Weather Related Cancellations: If the weather forecast takes a turn for the worst and we have to reschedule/cancel, all registered participants will be notified no less than 6 hours prior to the start time of the program.

Tick Notice: Always perform a tick check following outdoor activities regardless of trail-gear. Ticks are expected to be in high abundance this year.
