World Labyrinth Day was an idea created by the Labyrinth Society in 2009 in an effort to generate a moving meditation for world peace. By “Walking as One at 1” local time, the hope is that a rolling wave of peaceful energy will flow from one time zone to the next around the globe.
Walking a labyrinth encourages meditation. It is a tool for spiritual growth. By focusing on the path, a person quiets their mind and releases anxieties thereby reducing stress and enhancing creativity. The winding path encourages us to move inward in thought as we walk to the center of the labyrinth. By unwinding as we move back out, we return to our community refreshed and energized.
Labyrinths have been used by civilizations for thousands of years. The labyrinth at Cutler Botanic Garden is of a contemporary design – a 5-circuit labyrinth with a stone dust path, 3 entrances and nestled in the natural beauty of a garden setting.
If you wish to join us, we will assemble at the entrance to the garden at 12:45 pm.
