Encouraging our youth to develop public speaking skills is a 4-H priority, and because of this, 4-H communities across the nation will each hold their own Public Presentations event. Broome County 4-H's public speaking competition will be held on February 22nd this year and we encourage all of our members to participate.

New to 4-H and Public Presentations? Interested in trying something new this year? Come and learn about this event and the various ways you can participate!

While the Illustrated Talk is the most common genre of presentation given by our 4-H'ers there are a variety of other options to consider. Other types of presentations are Formal Speech, Demonstration, Dramatic Interpretations, Recitation, Job Interview, and a variety of Horse Communications.

This program will explain the differences between these public speaking options and cover what is expected for each one. We’ll also brainstorm topics—choosing a topic can be the hardest part of preparing a presentation—and set members up with tools for composing their own presentations.

Come and learn about 4-H Public Presentations and the various ways to participate.
