Broome County Veterans Resiliency Project

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County is honored to partner with Broome County Division of Veterans Services to provide hands-on opportunities to learn resiliency skills in the areas of gardening, cooking, healthy eating and utilizing community resources.

Farmers Market Bucks are given out at the five farmers markets in Broome County on a monthly basis in $15 increments. Veterans can receive these monthly and redeem at any of the farmers markets where distribution occurs, which are the Broome County Regional Farmers Market, Binghamton Farmers Market, Little Italy Farmers Market, Vestal Farmers Market & Windsor Farmers Market. The veteran must be in attendance to receive the coupons and proof of veteran status is requested. See the distribution schedule flyer for dates and locations.

Social Hour with a purpose: once a month where veterans will meet at CCE- Broome for an informal social hour, bring a dish to pass, with 1 or 2 community partners there to speak with veterans. 

Cooking class are also offered on a quarterly basis. CCE Broome partners with local chefs to offer these inside the Commercial Kitchen at the Broome County Regional Farmers Market. These are offered free of charge and the veteran can bring a spouse or family member. Proof of veteran status is required and the veteran must be in attendance.
