4-H SPARK Club – Basics of a 4-H Swine Project
Club Age Range: 8-18
Activity Description: Welcome to our 3-session project learning about the basics of a 4-H Swine Project.
The project will teach youth ages 8-18 about the basics of raising a pig, the cuts, processing, and packaging process, and how to select, market, and show a swine. Space will be limited for this face-to-face activity, so register early.
April 13 – Virtual Session – Raising Pigs for Beginners – Presented by Jason Denzel Livestock Educator Ulster County CCE
April 20 – In-Person Session – Cuts of Pork, Processing and Packaging – Presented by the Quail family. Location will be sent to registrants. Masks must be worn during the tour.
April 27 – Virtual Session – Selection, Marketing, Show Ready and Showmanship – Presentedby Mikala Anderson 4-H Alum, Cornell Ag Science Major
