Backyard Composting Workshop 101

  • Thursday, October 8, 2020, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Composting is an important action everyone can take to help create healthier garden soils, prevent food waste being sent to the landfill, and reduce emissions that contribute to climate change.

In this workshop attendees will learn the basics of the composting process and how to create and maintain their backyard bin. We will explain each step of the composting process including site selection, the pros and cons of various composting bin types, acceptable materials to compost, and how to harvest and use the finished product.

To be entered into the raffle to win a free Geobin, participants must be a Broome County resident, attend the entirety of the workshop, and provide feedback through the evaluation sheet. Raffle winners will be drawn at random the following Monday and contacted to schedule a pick-up at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County office at 840 Upper Front Street in Binghamton.

Please register by October 7th.
