Check out our STEM in Action as our 4-H Teen Tech Wizards Build a Wheelchair Ramp!
The 4-H National Mentoring/Tech Wizards Program helps young people get excited about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) careers through hands-on, youth-driven exploration. Youth work together with caring adult mentors to create and participate in videography and filmmaking, community service, robotics, climate change, astronomy, GPS/GIS, environmental stewardship, animal science, and food science. In 2013, these mentor-mentoree teams completed over 900 hours of community service and improvement projects.
Field trips serve as opportunities for on-the-ground project and career research. The 4-H Tech Wizards have had the opportunity to visit and learn from industry leaders at Cornell University, Universal, Rockwell Collins, the Broome County Sheriff's Department, Lourdes Hospital, and others. In 2014, the 4-H Tech Wizards participated in their first presentation at the New York State Fair. The 4-H Tech Wizards also help to lead the now annual Youth Career Exploration Fair held each Fall!
