4-H Education Center at Finch Hollow

 Winter 2017 Hours

The 4-H Education Center Building at Finch Hollow is located at 1394 Oakdale Rd in Johnson City, NY. The building will be closed January, February, and March except when public programs are scheduled. Trails are open daily, during daylight hours, year round

We offer public programs for Preschoolers, Families, and Senior Citizens. Throughout the school year we offer field trips for schools with children of all ages!

PUBLIC PROGRAMS

FUN FOR 3’s – 5’s

Bring your preschooler and join us for these special programs for your 3 – 5 year old. Most programs include an interactive presentation and a craft or nature walk. All programs cost $3.00 per person (children and adults) and registration is required. Registration can be completed by signing up online or calling 607-729-4231.

Wednesday, March 29 “Feet are Neat” Wednesday, 10:00-11:30am

We’ll celebrate hoofs and paws of all kinds! Find out what makes feet so neat, and follow a mystery animal trail.

Wednesday, April 12 “Wonderful Worms” Wednesday, 10:00-11:00am

Meet a worm “up close and personal” and find out what makes worms so special!

Monday, April 24 “Let’s make a Hummingbird Feeder” 10:00-11:00am

Learn all about this tiny bird with the big appetite, and make your own hummingbird feeder to take home!

Tuesday, May 2 “Let’s Take a Walk!” 10:00-11:00am OR 12:30-1:30pm

May is here! Let’s find out if April showers really do bring May flowers, and see which birds are making Finch Hollow their home.

Wednesday, June 14 “Who Lives in the Pond?” 9:30-11:00am OR 12:30-2:00pm

Slip on your boots or old sneakers, and that’s what we’ll discover! Fish, frogs, and turtles are neighbors to lots of other interesting pond creatures! Nets and containers will be provided as we venture down to the water’s edge to scoop out and discover more about life in the pond.

Saturday, April 8th“Recycled Paper Beads “10:00-11:30am.

Learn how to make recycled beads from magazines and scrap booking paper. After learning how to make the beads, use them to make your very own necklace or bracelet. This program is suitable for children ages 8 and above.

Saturday, May 20th “Let’s Take a Walk !”10:00-11:00am or 12:00-1:00pm.

Learn about the frogs that live in the pond at Finch Hollow and make a craft to take home!

Senior Brown Bag Lunch

This program is for people 50 years old and up. Bring your lunch and spend 30 minutes socializing with friends then spend an hour learning about the wonders of the animal kingdom! Programs cost $1.00 per person and registration is required. Parking is limited so attendees are encouraged to carpool. Registration for Senior Brown Bag Lunches is required and can be completed by signing up online or calling 607-729-4231.
